The Power of Boudoir

Others speak of empowerment.

Empowerment is good. Who doesn’t want to feel empowered? But what does that look like? Why is it such a popular term in the boudoir industry?

You will find the word in some form on nearly every boudoir photographer’s website. It is probably on mine somewhere.

So are they all the same, these photographers that promise empowerment?

Certainly not.

And what of becoming empowered? Is it universal? Doubtful. How can you offer the same thing to everyone and call it unique?

Is it all just a marketing ploy?  Kind of.

I believe that “empowerment” in all its various forms, has become a buzz word for boudoir photographers that need to get an idea across quickly in advertising. That’s ok. We only have a split second to get your attention. So fast is necessary, but is it powerful? Does it do the job?

Maybe not. But it has become the goal.

“Are you saying that a boudoir shoot is not empowering, Joe”, you may ask.

Certainly not. But it can and should be so much more.

Where I get stuck with it is that empowerment is, to me, a superficial term. Empowered to do what? Is that empowerment in itself powerful and lasting, or just fleeting?

You deserve more. You deserve YOU!
